India has exciting diversity in habitats and wildlife with nearly 350 mammals, 2100 species of birds and thousands of fish and reptiles. Of the highly endangered species, India has 55% of world's tiger population, 50% of Asiatic Elephant, 60% of One-horned Rhino and 100% of Asiatic Lion, 100 major National Parks, 441 Wildlife Sanctuaries, 9 bird reserves and 15 UNESCO Biosphere Reserves dotted around the country. In India you are never very far from a wildlife reserve. Most of these wildlife parks and sanctuaries have good accommodation facilities available within their premises or nearby. Depending on the area and terrain, wildlife watching may be done from elephant-back, jeeps, watchtowers or even boats.
Day 01 : DELHI
Arrive Delhi, the Capital of India. You are met and transferred to your hotel. Delhi is not only a modern Capital with Administration buildings, business streets and large gardens, but also is a historic city, which consists of attractions from the Muslim era (12th-18th Century).

Day 02: DELHI
After breakfast a sightseeing tour of Old Delhi. The Red Fort built in red sandstone by Emperor Shah Jahan in 1648. Opposite Red Fort lies Jama Masjid (Friday Masjid) made of red Sandstone and white Marble, the India's largest mosque that accommodates 20.000 people for pray. Finally, Raj Ghat (Mahatma Gandhi's Memorial) where he was cremated following his assassination in January 1948. In the afternoon take an excursion of New Delhi comprising Delhi's landmark, Qutab Minar, Humayun's tomb - the forerunner of the Taj, Rashtrapati Bhawan, which was the Viceroy's house and presently President's house, Parliament buildings and India Gate.

Day 03 : DELHI /NAGPUR /PENCH Flight/Drive
Board the morning flight to Nagpur in the heart of India. Upon arrival you are met and driven to Rudyard Kipling's land of the tiger. This region of India has in its reserves about half the countries tigers and its forest wealth. Today you drive to Pench National Park. Explore the jungle and learn about its inhabitants. Enjoy all that this area has to offer - game drives, elephant rides, boat rides on the Pench reservoir to observe birds and wildlife, guided nature walks in the reserve forest, visits to the local villages and colourful haat (weekly markets) bazaars. Upon arrival at Pench, you check into your rooms. In the afternoon set out for a game drive into the park for a date with its teeming wildlife of gaur, sambar, chital, wild dog, barking deer, nilgai, hyena, sloth bear, leopard, tiger and over 200 species of birds. Return to the lodge.

Day 04: PENCH
Early morning game drive to the park. Return to the lodge for breakfast. You are free till the evening game drive, when you have yet another opportunity to catch the tiger in its glory. Return to the lodge for the night.

Day 05: PENCH / KANHA Drive
After breakfast drive approximately 180 kms 4 hours to Kanha written about vividly in Kipling's Jungle Book. The area was famed as a hunter's paradise, but today a well developed national park in the eastern part of the Satpura Range with deciduous hardwoods, stands of bamboo, rolling grasslands and meandering streams of the Banjar River. The Kanha Tiger Reserve has an area of 1945 sq. kms. 22 species of mammals easily spotted are the three-striped palm squirrel, common langur monkey, jackal, wildboar, cheetal, sambar, Branden barasingha and black buck. Less commonly seen are Indian hare, Indian wild dog and gaur. Rarely seen are Indian fox, sloth bear, striped hyena, tiger, leopard, nilgai, Indian porcupine, wolf and Indian pangolin (anteater). Upon arrival, check into the lodge. Early afternoon, set out to see the wildlife in the park. Return to the lodge where you can mix with other in house guests and exchange experiences of the day.

You still have your chance to see the tiger. Morning and evening game drives.

Day 08: KANHA / BANDAVGARH
Drive to Bandhavgarh National Park 280 kms 6 hours through a beautiful valley with wild landscapes and picturesque villages. Bandhavgarh National Park is one of the 15 tiger reserves of India. Earlier the hunting area of the Maharaja of Rewa spread over an area of 865 sq kms. It was changed into a wildlife park in 1968, where in deep valleys with teak wood and bamboo trees you can see tiger, leopard, wild dogs, hyenna, jackal, chital (spotted deer), sambhar, wild pigs, antelopes, langoor and different snake types. Also some of the famous bird species can be spotted. Upon arrival check into the lodge and relax till your evening game drive.

Day 09: BANDAVGARH
Another day of game drives. Venture out in the early morning hours to catch glimpses of the elusive tiger and other game. Return to the lodge and relax. Evening you are off again to the park to enjoy the wonders of the wild.

Day 10: BANDAVGARH/KATNI /AGRA Drive/Train
Early morning enjoy an elephant ride through the jungle. After breakfast roam around the park if time permits. Afternoon drive to Katni railway station to board the overnight train to Agra.

Day 11: AGRA
Upon arrival in Agra you are met and transferred to your hotel. After breakfast visit the world famous monument - the Taj Mahal. It took 20,000 workers from Central Asia and Europe to construct this famous building ever made in the name of love by Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal who died giving birth to their 14th child. It took 22 years (1632-53) to complete this poem in white marble. Proceed to the Red Fort (Fort and Palace, made by Mughal King Akbar in 16th century and completed by his grandson Shah Jahan) Shah Jahan was imprisoned by his son Aurangzeb for 8 years in this fort where he died under house arrest. Return to the hotel for the night.

Day 12: AGRA /FATEHPUR SIKRI /BHARATPUR Drive
After breakfast drive to Bharatpur. En route visit Fatehpur Sikri, a perfectly preserved Mughal city built at the height of the empire's splendor by the Mughal Emperor Akbar. It took 16 years (1570-1586) to complete. The city was deserted due to scarcity of water. The beautiful palaces, mosques and gardens tell their own story. The English traveler Ralph Finch described Fatehpur Sikri in 1589 as a city bigger than London with 1000 Elephants, 30.000 horses and 800 concubines. The city was built in honour of a muslim sufi saint Sheikh Salim Chisti who foretold the birth of 3 sons to Akbar. The saint is buried here. Continue the drive to Bharatpur to visit the Keladeo Bird Sanctuary. Around 350 types of birds are found in Bharatpur out which 117 are the local birds and rest of the bird species come from Siberia, China and Europe. Alone 80 types of ducks can be spotted in here. This sanctuary park is spread over an area of 30 sq kms. with a huge lake. Evening stroll around the lake, where you can watch birds in their nests.

Day 13: Bharatpur /Ranthambore
Early morning enjoy a boat ride in the marshes watching the numerous varieties of birds and ducks. After breakfast drive to Ranthambhore. A tiger reserve near Swaimadhopur, which overlooks the Ranthambhore Fort dating back in history to the 11th & 12th Century. When this fort was attacked many times by Muslim army. Originally Ranthambhore was the hunting area of Maharaja of Jaipur, spread over an area of 392 sq kms. It was changed into a wildlife park in 1955. You can see leopard, wild dogs, hyenna, jackal, chital (spotted deer), sambhar, wild pigs, antelopes, langoor, the tiger and different snake types. Some of the famous bird species can also be seen.
Late afternoon enjoy a jeep safari through the reserve.

Day 14: RANTHAMBORE
Early morning game drive through the dirt tracks in the park. A good park for feasting your eyes on the tiger. Return to the lodge. Evening venture back into the park for another experience. Return to the lodge for the night.

Day 15: RANTHAMBORE / JAIPUR Drive
After breakfast leave for Jaipur 195 kms. 4 hours drive. Upon arrival check into the Hotel. Afternoon a half day tour of the Pink City with its Hawa Mahal a façade with 953 windows from where the ladies of the Royal family looked out at the processions. The City Palace with its museum of fine collections of textiles, manuscripts, paintings and weapons, etc. The Observatory (Jantar Mantar) built in 1734 by the astrologer king Jai Singh II. Return to the hotel for the night.

Day 16 JAIPUR / DELHI Drive
After an early breakfast set out for an excursion to Amber Fort. This city Fort is situated on a 130 mtr high Aravali hill. Enjoy a joy Elephant ride to the fort where you see palaces, private and public Audience halls, halls with wonderful paintings and work with semi precious stones. After sightseeing the Amber Fort, proceed to Delhi to connect your international flight back home.
